Claire Patterson began painting as a child and enjoyed taking art classes from pre-school to college to community classes on the side while she pursued a career as a CPA in public and private accounting. In her late 20's she moved with her husband, Bob, to six different cities over the course of ten years, including Chicago, Kansas City, Boston, Charlotte, and Atlanta, and eventually settled in Cleveland, Ohio with Bob, their three children, Jack, Charlie, and Caroline, and their beloved lab, Mollie. She continued to take art classes at local BayArts community center where she learned more about painting in terms of composition, perspective, color and light studies, and abstract techniques. Today she continues to paint out of her home studio in between grocery store trips, laundry sessions, volunteering, and taking care of her sports-loving, travel-seeking, and outdoor-venturing family. She enjoys photographing interesting landscapes and travel destinations and converting those images into colorful abstract works of art. She has displayed her work in local art shows including Blackbird Bakery, BayArts Juried Shows in 2020 and 2021, and was the recipient of the Congressional Art Award, with her work on display in the U.S. Capitol Building for the year in 1995.
